Looking Back, Looking Forward

Maxi Dunn is a great person and friend of this blog- I have reviewed her previous two albums, Welcome To Soonville and The Neglected Gambit.   Now her third album has just been released, Edmund And Leo, and it continues her tradition of meaningful but entertaining pop music.

Once again the album is excellently produced by Pete Hackett, while thematically the album has a wider range of themes than the first two, with songs looking back as well as looking forward, while covering a wide range of life experiences.

The highlight of the album remains Maxi’s expressive vocals and ability to mesmerise with some playful melodies; special mention can be made of the wistful title track, the powerful Dragonfly and the shades of light and dark in Cover Me.

Overall, it is highly recommended for fans of good pop music. You can, and should, order a copy at Maxi’s website here.
