Brian’s Hidden Beauties LXXX: Good Timin’

We’re into a post-50th anniversary hiatus of Beach Boys news, and the world seems to be distracted right now by something else (can’t imagine what). However, here on the Cabin Blog, we can remind ourselves of the tour and genius of Brian by looking at another beauty.

Good Timin’ was featured on the recent tour at some shows, including the now legendary Albert Hall gig. It was actually one of the first Beach Boys songs I saw on TV, and although it isn’t one of their best known songs, it gets the possibly underrated LA Light Album off to a powerful start.

With traditional harmonies and a nostalgic sound, coupled with a yearning Brian Wilson melody, this is an immediately likeable and accessible song that was actually recorded during Brian’s “lost” years of the early 70s. After all, everyone needs a bit of good timing.
